Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks
We have been spending a week in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park at the border between Idaho, Wyoming and Montana.
The Idea was to rest and only do a bit a hiking but (there is always a but)...we finally decided to see this Teton range from a bit closer and to attempt one of the summit (originally the South Teton)
What was supposed to be an easy climb with a glacier approach and a nice short ridge ended up to be a super long day (14h) and the traverse of 3 different summits...pfff we were totally finished even with all the training we have had over the past weeks...Basically we climbed the wrong mountain and had to traverse 3 instead (Cloudveil dome - Spalding peak - Gilkey tower)...Rest assure everything went well in the end and we managed it ok. Afer this really long climb we decided that we had enougth of mountenairing and put the ice axes and the crampons in the back of the cupboard!
The next 3 days that we spent in Yellowstone were truly relaxing and we saw amaizing things such as as geyser, huge canyon, big water falls, bisons, elks,...the park is very popular but definitelly worth a visit.
It was then time again to move on and we went back to Idaho to visit City of Rocks National Reserve where a lot of sport climbing await us!
